Inhab Energy Monitor: Providing Data and Advice

According to a Siemens press release, Inhab Energy Monitor tracks real-time power use in a home, from solar generation to electric vehicle (EV) charging.

Additionally, the solution provides notifications for abnormal power consumption and offers suggestions for more efficient energy use.

How the Inhab Energy Monitor Is Used

To implement the system, an electrician installs current transformers on the home circuits for users to monitor. Users can then track various appliances, including air conditioners, furnaces, washers, refrigerators, and EV chargers, to gain insight into the appliances’ performance, energy use, and lifecycles.

Users can remotely view and manage all functionality via smartphones, mobile apps, laptops, or tablets.

Jacob Middleton, Siemens’ head of residential electric products, explained that Inhab Energy Monitor lets occupants adjust their usage from peak to off-peak rates and participate in utility programs.

Collaborating with Emporia

Emporia handled the technical design and development of the hardware during product development. The company also uses its software to monitor and interpret the app’s data.

Consumers can purchase Inhab Energy Monitor on Amazon, through wholesale distributors, or from retailers such as Menards, Lowe’s, and Home Depot.
